The scale of the investment is hard to overstate. Gartner forecast in February 2026 that worldwide IT spending would reach $6.15 trillion that year, up 10.8 percent from 2025, with software alone at about $1.43 trillion, growing 14.7 percent. It has raised the forecast twice since, to $6.37 trillion in July.
